Conservation Study of the Mosaic in the Great Basilica of Tipasa's West Park

This mosaic dates from the 4th century; a condition assessment and a map of the deterioration were prepared.A study of the petrographic characteristics and mineralogical composition of the mortars was conducted to understand the technological aspects involved in the manufacturing process and to identify the factors causing the deterioration. This allowed us to establish a scientific diagnosis and identify the main causes of deterioration.
